DAY FIFTEEN OF THE 2018 FIFFA WORLD CUP.

The 2018 FIFA world cup in Russia has reached day fifteen. Fourteen days have passed since the tournament began. As usual we will review the previous matches before analyzing day fifteen’s matches. There were a couple of surprises, but the biggest of course was the 2 nil defeat of Germany by South Korea and the 3 nil defeat of Mexico by Sweden. Brazil also defeated Serbia 2 nil whiles Switzerland and Costa Rica drew 2-2.

Day fifteen has 4 matches in store for us. Japan host Poland whiles Senegal play Colombia in the 1st double match of the day. The 2nd double match of the day see England come up against Belgium and Panama against Tunisia. The matches in Group G will determine which nations qualify whiles the ones in Group H will determine who takes top spot. There may still be a lot of surprises in store for us so take a moment and enjoy the matches.

DAY FIFTEEN: JAPAN VS POLAND.

Japan and Poland take on each other in the 1st double match to be played today. The match will take place at the Volgograd arena at 3pm UK time. Japan are facing Poland for the 3rd time and have won both of the past 2 matches. A win or draw for Japan will see them qualify for the next round of the tournament. Poland are already on the bus back home so they will be playing for nothing but their pride.

Japan have recorded 2 wins, a draw and 2 defeats in their last 5 matches, with their latest result the 2-2 draw with Senegal. Poland have also produced 2 wins, a draw and 2 loses in that same run, the 3 nil loss to Colombia their last result. Japan have failed to score in 4 of their last 5 world cup matches against European sides. Poland are aiming to avoid defeat in all their 3 Group stage matches for the 1st time. I see Japan winning this match mainly because they will be more motivated than Poland.

DAY FIFTEEN: SENEGAL VS COLOMBIA.

The Senegal-Poland fixture will take place at the same time as the Japan-Poland match. It is the other match in Group H and will take place at the Samara arena. Senegal and Colombia have faced each other just once in the past, a match they both drew. A win or draw will see Senegal qualify to the next round of the competition. A win is needed for Colombia to qualify unless they draw and Japan loses in the other match.

Senegal have produced 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss in their past 5 matches, the latest result the 2-2 draw with Japan. Colombia have also recorded 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss in that same run, the 3 nil win over Poland the latest result. Senegal have faced South American opposition at the world just once and they drew that match. Senegal have a favorable record against Colombia and South American sides as well as a good recent form. This should all be enough to help them win or draw this match to secure qualification.

DAY FIFTEEN: ENGLAND VS BELGIUM.

This match between England and Belgium is the most high profile match on show today. It is the 1st of two matches to be played at the same time. The match will take place at the Kaliningrad Stadium at 7pm UK time. This match will be the 3rd meeting between England and Belgium at the world cup with England remaining unbeaten in the past 2 meetings. Belgium have tasted victory against England in just 1 of their previous 21 matches. Both sides have already qualified to the next round of the tournament but victory for either side will secure them top spot.

England have recorded 4 wins and a draw in their past 5 matches, the 6-1 win over Panama their latest result. Belgium also boast the same results in their last 5 matches, with their latest result being the 5-2 win over Tunisia. England will be hoping to win all their Group Stage matches for just the 2nd time in their history. History and statistics are on England’s side. Both teams are also on a similar levels in terms of quality and performance. Even though both teams will be making alterations to their sides, I still expect England to win.

DAY FIFTEEN: PANAMA VS TUNISIA.

The 2nd match of the 7pm UK time double fixture is the match between Panama and Tunisia. The match will take place at the Mordovia arena. Panama and Tunisia have not faced-off before so this will be their 1st meeting. Both sides have already been eliminated from the world cup after their defeats to England and Belgium. All they will be fighting for is to end their campaign on a good note.

Panama have generated a win, a draw and 3 loses in their previous 5 matches, the latest result being the 6-1 thumping by England. Tunisia on the other hand have recorded 2 draws and 3 defeats in their past 5 matches, the 5-2 defeat to Belgium their last result. Tunisia have only faced a Concacaf side once and they won that match. This is a meaningless match and does have little riding on it but I expect Tunisia to bow out of the tournament with a win.
